About this wine
The name RAR not only makes reference to winemaker Ricard Rofé’s (of Scala Dei fame) initials but also means “rare” in Catalan.
Ricard's rare skill here lies in his approach, which avoids the heavily oaked and extracted style of wines common to Priorat, in favour of a more elegant, fresh and fruit-driven wine. We think it's class in a glass and could certainly knock some of the big classics off their pedestals.
What Makes It So Grape?
Produced in W.O Priorat, Spain
Modern and stylish, this has seen a touch of oak making it silky, smooth and easy to drink.
The wines of Priorat are known for their heavily extracted styling which can make them chewy and thick. Sometimes this is charming, other times it's tiring. This is a refreshingly silky style that shows a boat load of class and elegance. It's impressive, to say the least.
