Bon Courage Estate Chardonnay Prestige Cuveé, 2019, Robertson
If you have a problem with chardonnay, you’re going to need to get over it, because the Bon Courage demands attention, and delivers citrussy, vanilla filled explosion to those who pop the top. This is 'stigma busting' chardonnay on a mission to change minds, and it’s succeeding with a smile (your smile).
The Four Point Lowdown
- A beautiful balance of citrus and vanilla
- That little bit of oak that says I’m mature, but still heaps of fun
- Pair me with seafood, sushi, or subtle spice
- Perfect for changing the mind of someone who says “Anything but chardonnay”
About this wine
The thing about good chardonnay is that it’s what wine is all about – artistry in grape form. This is GREAT chardonnay.
Chardonnay has had a bad rep for a while. The shouts of “anything buy chardonnay” thrown around bars and restaurants is enough to put anyone in earshot off a glass, but everything about that is wrong. Chardonnay reflects the quality of its maker, and when you find something well made, there is so much fun to be had. Between the lemon, peach and vanilla of this chardonnay is a soft oak that doesn’t overpower, but enhances, turning chardonnay into Chardonn-hey!!!!
What Makes It So Grape?
Produced in Robertson, South Africa
Father and son team, André & Jacques Bruwer have been making incredible wine with South African influences for so long, you wonder how they still have passion left to put in the bottle, but it’s always there.
The Bon Courage vineyard is as picturesque as they come, vines everywhere, baking under the South African sun, and flowing rivers acting as boundaries. It’s what’s inside that counts though - a winery filled with years of getting the contents of the bottle just right.
