Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, 2019, Wyebrook Estate, Marlborough
While there are certainly lots of Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region of New Zealand to choose from, we're ridiculously confident that if you're a fan of Sauvignon, you won't find a better bottle for your buck.
About this wine
Sometimes, life is about trying new things and taking risks, and other times we need a reliable friend of a wine that we know is going to deliver at every sip. This is the latter, and we think once you taste it, it's going to become a very good friend indeed...
What we love about Wyebrook's Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is that it delivers everything you want from this style - refreshment, zingy citrus fruits, and a little sweetness on the tip of your tongue from tropical fruit flavours, without the OTT gooseberry and cat's pee (genuine tasting note - look it up!) flavours and aromas that have put some people off the style.
What Makes It So Grape?
Produced in Marlborough, New Zealand
Wyebrook Estate is a small vineyard on the edge of town in Blenheim, in the renowned wine region of Marlborough, New Zealand. Their philosophy is to produce fresh, beautiful wine, with minimal interference with nature - both in the vineyard and the winery.
Marlborough put New Zealand on the international wine stage with its exquisite Sauvignon Blanc in the 1980s, but the region is also gaining recognition for high-quality examples of other varieties, such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Hailed as one of New Zealand’s sunniest and driest regions, Maori refer to the Wairau Valley as ‘Kei puta te Wairau’ – ‘The place with the hole in the cloud’.
