About this wine
Spain continues to deliver exceptional value wines time and time again – and that’s why we’re huge fans! Monastrell (also known as Mourvèdre in France and Mataro in Australia), is a black grape that packs loads of flavour, tannin and alcohol. Richness at its best, this is for those who go weak at the knees for big reds.
Often paired with Grenache and Syrah (particularly in wines from the southern Rhone valley), Monastrell is used to add length, tannin structure and floral aromas to a wine. On its own, like in this beauty or the wines from Bandol, Monastrell is a deeply concentrated and structured wine that packs a lot of punch. Similar to Syrah, it’s filled with dark fruits, earthy flavours and some soft red fruits, as well. The perfect treat for your mates who love a big and bold red.
